I recently had occasion to visit the reserve de los Esteros del Ibera . This is a huge swamp area (approximately 20,000 square miles) located in the province of Corrientes in northern Argentina. This is the second largest wetland in the world after that of the Pantanal, which is located in Brazil. The reserve is about 13,000 square km and is truly a spectacle of nature, populated by animals of all kinds, hundreds of species of birds, monkeys, the yacaré (caimans - pictured), the carpincho (they are the largest rodents the world - in the picture) and ai temuti piraña ed anaconda.
